Watercolor Playgroup

Introductory Session: Saturday, June 26, 1 - 4 p.m.

Outdoor Painting Session: July 31, 3 - 5:30 p.m., August 21, 3 - 5:30 p.m.

Facilitator: Artist Jo Myers-Walker, theleftblankstudio.com

The experience of painting in the natural splendor of creation can be a freeing and therapeutic experience. Much can be revealed in the spontaneity and freshness of outdoor painting if we let God have the brush. Spirit can take us beyond the obvious into a deeper awareness of sacred spaces. Iowa City artist and Dubuque Franciscan Associate Jo Myers-Walker will guide participants in some traditional artisan techniques for drawing and painting small vignettes. Discover more of your true self with Jo as she models her process for seeing God in nature with plein air painting, incorporating diverse spiritual resources and weaving many wisdoms into the experience.

No artistic experience necessary. Shoes will be optional while painting outdoors as bare feet can connect us to the earth. Bring a folding chair, if you have one. Each session ends with time to share what you've created. August 21 will include foot mono printing activity.

$75, includes the introductory session, two guided painting sessions and all materials. Register by Monday, June 21.
