Shalom Movie Night: “St. Francis of Assisi – Sign of Contradiction,” with Ginny Heldorfer OSF

Wednesday, May 1, 6:45 - 8:00 pm
Shalom Spirituality Center

Join us for a movie night! We will enjoy the 2018 film St. Francis of Assisi – Sign of Contradiction.

Everyone knows St. Francis of Assisi as a lover of peace and nature, which is true, but he was also a radical person for his times, breaking with many social norms. He turned his back on everything that the world said would lead to happiness in favor of something else, something more. When his radical journey led him to encounter Christ, the darkness and confusion in his life were replaced with light and peace. While the world saw him as a fool, he was a sign of contradiction. Ultimately, this film is about conversion, his and ours.

Enjoy popcorn while watching the 74-minute movie, and then we will discuss its various themes.

No cost to attend, but free-will donations accepted; RSVP attendance online at shalomretreats.org or by calling 563.582.3592 by Tuesday, April 30.
