Friday, October 27, 6:00 -8:00 pm
In-person, Shalom Spirituality Center
On this date in 1962, a Soviet naval commander named Vasili Arkhipov saved the world from nuclear destruction during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Confusion aboard his vessel very nearly led to the accidental launch of a nuclear missile, which would have started a deadly war. Arkhipov narrowly averted this disaster, but it is now up to each one of us to help avert the next disaster! Come to learn about how this issue has affected life in Iowa and how you can stand up for peace and a world free of nuclear weapons. The cost is $15 per person; please register online at shalomretreats.org or by calling 563.582.3592 by Thursday, October 26.
