Thursday, November 9, 7:00-8:00 pm
Shalom Dining Room
Presenter: Dr. David Cochran, PhD
For some, holiday gatherings can get tense if the talk turns to politics, especially in increasingly polarized times. David Cochran, award-winning author and Professor of Politics at Loras College, will offer insights into the sources of political polarization, why many political discussions can seem so frustratingly unproductive, and tips for how to have more civil and genuinely constructive conversations about politics. Dr. Cochran’s primary teaching and research areas are religion, race, and ethnicity in American politics, political thought, war and peace, and Irish studies.
*Please note that this program will include snacks but not a meal. The “Main Course” refers to the holiday meals you may share with your family and friends.
The cost is $10 per person; please register online at shalomretreats.org or by calling 563.582.3592 by Monday, November 6.
