What is Ayurveda? Ayurveda is known as the science of life, from the Sanskrit words Ayur meaning “life,” and Veda meaning “science.” This practice treats each individual uniquely, from an understanding of the person and their current life. Any living organism in a state of equilibrium has the capacity to naturally heal itself. Ayurveda treats the whole person, by attempting to understand each individual’s constitution, circumstances, lifestyle, tastes, emotions, attitude, and relationships.
In the quest for improved health and wellness, might your schedule be a place to start? Ayurveda is not just about balancing the amount of tasks, but also doing those tasks at the proper times. Various times throughout the day literally have different energetic qualities, and we will discuss when it is best to do each daily activity based on that energy. This will help in finding balance for overall well-being.
Emily has been teaching yoga for 7 years and Ayurveda for 3 years. She has practiced both systems for 17 years, ever since becoming hooked on them by her very first experience. She lives in Illinois but grew up in Iowa. Emily loves bananas and also loves supporting her clients fully in living their best lifestyle, through classes, workshops, and coaching.
$20 per person; please register online at shalomretreats.org or by calling 563.582.3592 by noon on Friday, January 3.
