In an election year, it is important for citizens to be informed as they discern where to place their votes. Join us for a non-partisan panel discussion of Project 2025: where it comes from and some of its ethical, moral, spiritual/faith implications. Panelists include Br. Joseph Nangle, Franciscan friar and Pax Christi USA Ambassador of Peace; David Cochran, PhD Professor of Politics at Loras College; and Heleana Theixos, PhD Assistant Professor of Philosophy at Loras College, focusing on moral philosophy. This Zoom presentation will offer input from each panelist with the lens of Catholic/Christian teaching. The discussion is not intended to advocate for any candidate, but to help people navigate their civic duty in voting discernment. There will be time for questions.
A short summary of the sorts of concerns, which will be examined by the panelists, may be read in this article, written by Br. Nangle for Pax Christi USA -- A serious concern for the coming election – Pax Christi USA
$5 per person; please RSVP online at shalomretreats.org or by calling 563.582.3592 by noon on Wednesday, September 11.
