Staff from sponsored ministries of the Sisters of St. Francis will facilitate book discussion groups on Zoom as a prelude to the November 13 program.
In his book A White Catholic’s Guide to Racism and Privilege, Daniel P. Horan, OFM, PhD discusses issues of racism, including the difference between common-sense racism and systemic racism, what is meant by white privilege, the Catholic Church’s teaching on racism, and how to combat racism in our everyday lives. Horan demonstrates how white Catholics can become actively anti-racist and better allies to our
Black brothers and sisters as they work against racism in our culture and the Church. He offers readers the hope and surety of the Gospel, wisdom of Catholic tradition, and practical ways to educate ourselves and advocate for justice.
We offer four session options for a three-part book discussion beginning in September online via Zoom. This session includes:
- SESSION 2: Tuesdays, September 28 and October 12, 26, 10 - 11:15 a.m.
Facilitator: Nancy Knipper, Director of Associates
Copies of the book are available for purchase at the Shalom gift shop and River Lights Bookstore. Each book discussion group is limited to 15 participants. Thanks to the generous support of the Sisters of St. Francis, this book discussion is being offered free of charge.
Register by Wednesday, September 22 for for the Zoom link to your chosen discussion.
