Reading That Matters has been a Shalom-sponsored program since 2010. Books chosen for each discussion are meant to increase understanding and acceptance by acquainting the reader with the challenges, beliefs, and values of a variety of people and cultures. All are welcome!

The Personal Librarian is the remarkable story of J. P. Morgan’s personal librarian, Belle da Costa Greene, the Black American woman who was forced to hide her true identity and pass as white to in order to protect her well-being as well as leave a lasting legacy that has enriched our nation.
