Sometimes unnamed, seemingly insignificant characters are the key to understanding Scripture. What new insights from the Sunday Gospels surface this Lent when we read them through the perspectives of minor characters? What does the widow who gave her last coins teach us about the temptation of Jesus? Just how many points of view are there in the story of the prodigal son? What might the countless unnamed witnesses to the way of the cross and the death of Jesus show us?
Sr. Sarah is a scripture scholar with a Ph.D. From Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley and an MA from Catholic Theological Union. She has served as an adjunct professor at Loras College and Wartburg Theological Seminary.
