Our mission and vision draw inspiration from the multifaceted word after which we named ourselves: Shalom.
Shalom is a Hebrew word with dozens of definitions often understood as meaning:
peace, health, wholeness, harmony, integrity, prosperity, tranquility, and wellbeing.

We hope you will choose to come to our Center and experience these blessings.

Shalom Spirituality Center’s facilities offer an ideal setting for retreats, conferences, seminars, workshops, and classes.

Shalom Spirituality Center is owned and directed by the Sisters of St. Francis of Dubuque, Iowa

and staffed by both Franciscan Sisters and laypersons.

Situated adjacent to an 81-acre prairie, Shalom offers ample space to walk, pray, and reflect with its numerous paved and well-groomed walking paths, meditation garden, and abundant wildlife.

Shalom provides a variety of retreats and programs for persons of all ages, cultures, faith backgrounds, and religious affiliations wherever they currently are on their spiritual journey.

Programming is wholistic — integrating mind, body, soul, & spirit.

A wide variety of programs and retreats are offered throughout the year, ranging from weeklong and weekend retreats to days or afternoons of reflection to workshops on various spiritual and educational topics. Shalom serves people of all faiths and offers programming reflecting a variety of spiritualties and belief systems that address the needs of individuals, couples, and families in all age groups and economic & social situations.

Programs exist for spiritual growth along with a sacred environment for deepening one's contemplation, reflection, and prayer life.

Shalom’s facilities are available for use by civic, religious, educational, and professional groups for gatherings and workshops — please call us to inquire about the availability of our conference and meeting rooms. Amenities include AV equipment (including a 55" Smart TV), free Wi-Fi high-speed internet access, a smoke-free building, and modern heating & cooling systems.

In addition to our group-focused programming and retreats, Shalom offers private retreats for individuals. Private retreatants may choose spiritual direction as part of their retreat, or they may prefer to spend their time in solitude, or visiting the Wellness Center, or taking drop-in Yoga classes.

The Wellness Center in the lower-level of Shalom is open to everyone for therapeutic massage, reflexology, psychotherapy, reiki, healing touch, and other wellness services. You do not have to be a guest at Shalom to utilize the Wellness Center businesses.

There are Yoga classes held weekly.

We also have two spaces in Shalom specially tailored for private retreats, the Francis Room Hermitage and Peace Haven.
